Fake Devices – Countering a Hidden and Growing Threat
Our presentation focuses on counterfeit devices and the issues they pose for everything they touch – from public WiFi to private corporate networks, as well as the threats to the device owners themselves.
At 4.15pm on Thursday October 3rd, DeviceAssure CTO Ronan Cremin will present a live demo showing serious this growing threat is, the wide range of potential security impacts they introduce, and how to mitigate these threats.
With an estimated annual cost of €45.3 billion in lost revenues, counterfeit and non-standard devices pose a real threat to business, consumers, and regulators.
Our research shows that highly convincing counterfeit devices can be an attack vector in their own right. Pre-installed malware and automatic download and execution of malicious code compromises data security and puts user’s data in jeopardy.
